CPD for Education Professionals

Rushcombe First School can offer bespoke reflection and learning experiences to other schools and education professionals, based upon some of the key approaches and values that underpin our school. We are a school that achieves high outcomes for children through the use of innovative pedagogy, and we have an experienced and skilled team of practitioners, who can provide reflection and learning sessions across a number of areas. Key areas include developing co-constructive learning experiences, the use of the Mantle of the Expert pedagogy, the development of an emergent curriculum and the use of Philosophy sessions.

The following are some of the specific themes that can be explored:

  • Developing ‘co-constructive’ learning experiences: building upon learning from constructivist theory.
  • Developing and embedding children’s dispositions for learning: a whole school approach.
  • Creating a child centred school: developing values and beliefs about learning and childhood.
  • Utilising the ‘Mantle of the Expert’ approach to stimulate purposeful, high quality learning experiences.
  • Developing collaborative discourse and thinking skills through the use of Philosophy sessions.
  • Designing and developing an emergent, project based curriculum.
  • Redefining the creative arts: developing the child’s languages of expression.
  • Developing the self-aware learner: strategies to support metacognition.

Reflection and learning experiences can take different forms, depending upon the agreed needs of your group. It will usually consist of a structured visit to Rushcombe, consisting of a presentation about the theme, a focused Learning Walk to explore practice and group dialogue/reflection. Bespoke support for your school’s needs can also be discussed, including possible outreach. If you would like further details, including costs, please contact the school office.
