Curriculum Overview
The National Curriculum provides guidance for schools on statutory and non-statutory aspects of curriculum coverage, including English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Design Technology, Computing, Art and Design, Music, PE and Languages. Religious Education is not covered by the National Curriculum, instead guidance is provided by the Dorset Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
The National Curriculum begins at the start of Year 1 and is used to inform curriculum coverage in subsequent year groups (Years 2, 3 and 4). The Foundation curriculum is informed by the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.
Each year, the school plans its Learning Adventures to provide a balance of opportunities across all National Curriculum subject areas. Where any subjects cannot be covered through the school’s Learning Adventure approach, these are covered separately.
