Your Child’s Progress

During their time at Rushcombe First School, our aim is for every child to fulfil their potential across the full breadth of the curriculum, including key curriculum areas such as Mathematics, Reading and Writing. As a school, we also take a holistic view of your child’s development, recognising the importance of personal, social and emotional development within the context of the whole child.

Parent consultation evenings are organised on a termly basis for you to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss their progress. These meetings provide an opportunity for parents to keep up to date with their child’s progress in school and to discuss next steps for learning.

At the end of each academic year, each child receives their annual report, which summarises the progress they have made during the year. For children in Years 1-4, progress is indicated against age related expectations for each National Curriculum subject area. Parents of children in Year 1 will also receive their child’s result from the national phonic screening test, whilst parents of children in Year 2 will receive details of their child’s SATS results. For children in Foundation, progress is indicated against each area from the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.

In addition to the termly parent consultation meetings and your child’s annual report, we recognise that there may be other times during the year when you may need to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss aspects of your child’s development. If this is the case, then please talk with your child’s class teacher to arrange a mutually convenient time.
